Daniel Schlein  | Managing Associate & Financial Advisor | Alliance Advisory Group

Daniel Schlein is a Managing Associate & Financial Advisor at Alliance Advisory Group, where he leads training sessions and works closely with new associates as they grow within the industry. Dan is passionate about community financial education and empowering others to make sound financial decisions. During his time at AAG, Dan has achieved recognition for his efforts and leadership, including the Client Builder Award, the Chairman’s Cup Award, and the Alliance Advisory Group Influence Award.

With a people-first mentality, Dan has engaged with a variety of organizations and individuals, building a strong network and client base throughout the Buffalo region. As an active participant in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Buffalo City Mission, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and Grow Buffalo, Dan spends much of his spare time giving back to our region. In both his personal and professional life, Dan is always ready to connect with and assist others in their growth and development.

First Job:

At age 12, I had a paper route for The Buffalo News. I covered my street and the street next to mine every morning from 5-7 am.

Greatest Professional Win:

Series 7 / 66 & RICP or Chairman’s cup (top 5 in my firm in year 3)

Best Piece of Professional Advice:

Create consistency and build a routine.

The routine I’ve set for myself is: Get up early, lead with gratitude, write goals, do some sort of meditation, followed by movement. This way, you can start your day in a great mindset, no matter what happens after that.

Community Engagement:

  • Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Rising Stars Committee & Junior Board
  • Grow Business Buffalo – Board member – Supports small businesses in Buffalo
  • NAIFA Member – this supports the financial services industry & lobbies for positive changes
  • Active – NU Alumni

Thoughts on Living, Working, and Playing in Buffalo Niagara:

It’s truly the City of Good Neighbors – people care about one another, and there is an amazing community around us. I grew up, went to school, and worked in this area my entire life. I LOVE IT!

Building a strong network throughout the area gives your work and business a sense of community. The advantage of this area is that the sky is the limit.

Playing for me is watching the Bills kick some butt!!!

On Being a BN360 Spotlight Professional:

It feels great. Four years ago I got involved with BNP and BN360, and then had the opportunity to sit on the board of BN360 and help choose the Spotlight Professionals. I learned how amazing the nominees were and the vast knowledge, accomplishments, and skillsets a lot of them had.

To be among them is an honor and, overall, an amazing feeling. Thanks for the opportunity.

2020 Takeaway:

Even in the worst of times, if you lead with gratitude for others, serve, and help who you can, you start to see the positivity and hidden lessons throughout.

That also gives you the ability to learn & grow.

The Pandemic’s Career Impact:

  1. Created even more awareness on what is going on in the world beyond our community. My passion is to impact our community and then impact the world.
  2. Being able to work and serve from anywhere is more profound now. This created more efficiency and extreme passion to serve.

Top 5 Favorites:

  • Favorite Mural: Tough to choose one but I love Albright-Knox Art Gallery
  • Best Buffalo-Niagara Hidden Gem: Silo City
  • Go-to Buffalo Food: Chicken wings or Steak
  • Best Buffalo Activity/Hobby: Watching the Bills
  • Place you would take someone new to Buffalo: Williamsville
