Opportunities offered by Partnership membership come in many shapes for Sealing Devices.
Open a microwave door, and you may see a gasket made by Sealing Devices in Lancaster, NY. Fly on a plane, undergo a medical test or turn on an LED light, and chances are there’s a Sealing Device product involved somehow. Founded in 1963, Sealing Devices manufactures gaskets, O-rings and seals in all shapes and sizes for a variety of industries including electronics, aerospace and medical products.
A long-time Buffalo Niagara Partnership member, Sealing Devices has become even more engaged in its membership over the last few years. Elizabeth Galanis-Miller, Market Account Manager at the manufacturing company, was named a 2016 Spotlight Professional for BN360, the Partnership’s program dedicated to Buffalo Niagara’s young professionals. She also serves on the Partnership’s Manufacturers Council which is focused on promoting industry growth and expansion in the region.
Elizabeth notes that Sealing Devices is a rapidly growing, privately-owned business always seeking to achieve success in many different areas, from hiring a strong workforce to connecting with new customers and suppliers. She says the diversity of services and programs offered by the Partnership is a great advantage for the company.
“There are so many opportunities offered through the Partnership, membership can be tailored to what is best for the company,” Elizabeth explains. “After joining BN360, I began to see the many other ways Sealing Devices can benefit from being an engaged member.”
Sealing Devices has gained additional insight into several areas as a Buffalo Niagara Partnership member. For example, as a member of BN360, Elizabeth says she has met and identified a number of young professionals who would fit the culture at Sealing Devices. “Employees are our top priority and we continually work to develop and maintain our workforce,” she says. “BN360 has helped us focus now on the young professionals we will need as older employees begin to retire and the company continues to grow.”
Sealing Devices has even modeled a new internal spotlight program after the BN360’s Spotlight Professionals program.

Serving as a member of the Partnership’s Manufacturing Council is another advantage, according to Elizabeth. Her role on the Council has introduced Sealing Devices to many other area manufacturers while helping the company stay informed about the local manufacturing environment.
