The Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s Development Advisory Council (DAC) serves as the “go-to” body to vet and recommend development and land use policy to the Partnership Board, and to provide subject matter expertise on development issues and initiatives.
The Development Advisory Council is a consortium of professionals including developers, attorneys, real estate brokers, lenders and engineers who collaborate to address key economic development, construction and Smart Growth policy and advocacy issues. A few examples of recent Council initiatives include:
- Riverbend Area Infrastructure Needs Assessment
- Brownfields Redevelopment Task Force
- Buffalo Building Reuse Project
The Partnership’s Development Advisory Council establishes an annual Action Agenda to inform the focus and work of the Council over the next year. The 2015 agenda includes programs such as the Brownfield Cleanup Program, asbestos and lead paint remediation legislation reforms, and support of investment in New York State’s transportation infrastructure.
Playing an active role in smart growth and development helps to maintain and sustain a strong local economy and high quality of life for area residents. The Partnership DAC gives its members a stronger voice in creating vibrant communities for generations to come.
