Say Yes Buffalo is a unique collaboration of public and private entities aimed at increasing high school and postsecondary completion rates by organizing people, time, money and resources to remove social, behavioral, health, financial and academic barriers to student achievement.
The initiative brings together the Buffalo Public School District, the District Parent Coordinating Council, the Buffalo Teachers Federation, the Buffalo Association of Administrators and Supervisors, the City of Buffalo, Erie County, higher education and Say Yes to Education, Inc., with a diverse group of Buffalo area corporate, non-profit, and philanthropic organizations.
Say Yes Buffalo partners believe every student can graduate high school and college when given the proper support, resources, and opportunities.
Say Yes Buffalo provides locally funded tuition scholarships to nearly 100 colleges and universities. The program also provides a comprehensive support system for students who meet residency, graduation and admission requirements.
As the program grows, plans call for additional services to be rolled out over the next few years, including:
- After school and summer enrichment programming
- College coaching
- Mentoring programs
- Tutoring and academic assistance
- Legal assistance for families
