Earlier this week, our Manufacturers Council, with the help of members Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel, LLP, Lumsden & McCormick, LLP and Summer Street Capital Partners, presented a briefing on the components of the 2014/15 state budget that will have positive tax implications for many qualified NYS manufacturers.
Here at the Partnership, we’re eagerly anticipating the arrival of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for their inaugural Advanced Design & Manufacturing Impact Forum this August – a brand new program focusing on the intersection of advanced design and advanced manufacturing.
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to join the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as they awarded Congressman Chris Collins their Spirit of Enterprise award – a distinction given to Congressional members whose voting record reflects support for pro-growth, pro-jobs policies.
The Partnership’s Manufacturers Roundtable series is a way for people with similar challenges in manufacturing to share best practices and connect with other professionals. Going forward, roundtable groups may establish the relationships or networks so people can reach-out when advice is needed or to just brainstorm a problem. Each group gets to decide its future!
2013 saw full implementation of Dream It, Do It WNY, an initiative designed to engage, educate and employ the next generation of manufacturing talent (we reached 4,400+ students!); another slate of sold-out facility tours, the second series of our Manufacturers Roundtables in which manufacturing peers shared best practices as well as active engagement in the design of two manufacturing-related Buffalo Billion signature initiatives, the Regional Workforce Advancement Center and the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing Competitiveness. We also continued to strengthen strategic partnerships with regional and statewide manufacturing organizations by taking our first trip together to the state capitol to participate in Manufacturing Days in Albany – a two-day event aimed at educating legislators about the importance of manufacturing to our regional and NYS economies.
