Introducing Sales Leader Exchange, a new program of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership

I am pleased to announce that Sales Leader Exchange is the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s newest professional development program.

Over the course of 10 months, Sales Leader Exchange will focus on helping to develop sales leaders by concentrating on the specific goals, objectives, and challenges that today’s sales leaders face daily. Facilitated by Tony Watson, a Certified Sales Leader with over 25 years of industry experience, this unique and practical program will take sales leaders to the next level.

I recently had the chance to talk with Tony about what to expect from this new program.

Rachael: Who is Sales Leader Exchange for?

Tony: Sales Leader Exchange is designed for the developing sales manager: someone who is in a sales leader role, who has at least one direct report, and who sells a product or service.

Participants in Sales Leader Exchange have faced or are facing challenges like developing a sales plan, meeting sales goals, or boosting underperforming sales teams. They may also be people who don’t have a solid tracking system or understanding of the sales pipeline. Ideally, a Sales Leader Exchange participant is someone who was recently promoted to a sales management position and needs the right leadership training.

Q: What can participants expect from Sales Leader Exchange?

During the Sales Leader Exchange experience, I will help participants systematically address key challenge areas like process, procedure, strategy, planning, measurement, leadership development, and accountability. They’re all crucial when it comes to finding success as a sales leader.

We’ll also drill down into specific topics, like creating an environment for sales success, coaching mindset and culture, improving poor performance, forecasting, hiring and on-boarding, and much more. Over the past 25 years, I have personally seen and experienced these challenges. For example, a business owner might have a really strong sales performer who was promoted to management—but maybe that person isn’t as strong as a manager. These topics are specifically designed to help those new sales managers overcome leadership barriers and continue finding success.

Q: Logistically, how is the program run?

Sales Leader Exchange will launch in early 2020 with a maximum of 15 participants. The group will be industry-exclusive and confidential. Meetings conveniently take place the first Thursday of each month from 8 to 10 a.m., with the exception of July and August. During each meeting, participants will enjoy light refreshments, coffee, and tea as we dive into a two-hour session.

Q: Tony, could you please give us a sense of your background?

Sure. I am a Certified Sales Leader, a licensed Sales Xceleration Advisor, and the President of WNY Sales Solutions, LLC. With over two decades of experience, I am an expert and leader in sales training and development. I have extensive experience in all areas of sales, from developing and building sales channels and new customer networks to aggressively penetrating new markets. I am well versed in all areas of the sales cycle, like developing and executing winning proposals and building and managing inside and outside sales and sales support teams. Proudly, my family and I call Buffalo home. I am passionate about our region and in preparing the next generation of sales leaders to properly motivate their teams, to surpass personal expectations, and to develop winning strategies.
