Account Representative: New Business Development

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership is the area’s regional chamber of commerce and privately-funded economic development organization.  Partnership members employ more than a quarter of a million people in the Buffalo Niagara region. By mobilizing members and strategic partners around common goals, the Partnership grows private investment and jobs in Buffalo Niagara through advocacy, business development and convening. Since 1844, the Partnership has been working to make Buffalo Niagara a better place in which to do business.

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership has an immediate opening for an Account Representative, New Business Development. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Member Engagement & Development.  The primary role of the Account Representative is to build and nurture relationships with prospective members in an effort to secure new members and to provide superior customer service. This is accomplished by delivering on the value proposition of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership. A consistent focus on meeting and exceeding revenue targets as well as growing sponsorship revenue from new members is paramount.

The Account Representative, New Business Development interacts with executives, senior managers and managers of the prospective member organizations in order to increase revenue from membership, event sponsorships and attendance, product and service sales, and affinity programs.  In the process, the Account Representative, will determine these organizations’ needs, build contacts, develop connections to the Partnership programs & services and increase participation in councils, committees and events that ultimately will strengthen the relationship between these organizations and the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.


The Account Representative, New Business Development must be business savvy and have the ability to work with other Partnership staff to further build relationships with appropriate member companies.  The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills, clear and effective oral and written communication skills.  Relationship management, sales and presentation experience, creative problem solving and time management are a necessity.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree. Proven sales experience and relationship management experience a must.  Experience selling sponsorships a plus.  Working knowledge of CRM experience preferred (i.e. ACT, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, etc.or similiar).
