Workforce development is the top priority of our Manufacturers Council for the 2015-16 season. We have broken the topic down into three main “buckets” – developing baseline skill sets, ensuring upskilling opportunities, and growing the workforce pipeline.
It’s no secret that manufacturers are facing an unprecedented workforce shortage. Due to aging current employees and a lack of qualified candidates entering the workforce, many companies are feeling the pressure of addressing the workforce issue.

The Riverbend development, at the former Republic Steel site in South Buffalo, is a transformative project for Buffalo and Western New York.
SolarCity has committed to investing $5 billion over the next decade on a solar panel manufacturing facility expected to generate 3,000 jobs. New York State has also committed $750 million to the project.
