Ryan Whalen, Capital Tonight reporter for Spectrum News, talked with Buffalo Niagara Partnership President and CEO, Dottie Gallagher-Cohen, about the findings in this year’s member and advocacy survey. The results showed that many Western New York employers are optimistic about Buffalo’s economy, but not so positive on New York State’s.
The Buffalo Niagara Partnership and BN360, the Partnership’s Young Professionals program, conducted a survey over the summer of the region’s young professionals aimed at better understanding how they view the region and future career opportunities. The survey focused on what the business community and public sector can do to strengthen our region as a place where young professionals want to work and live.
Over the past few years, the Partnership has led the private sector’s involvement in the development and implementation of One Region Forward, Buffalo Niagara’s regional sustainability plan. Transportation is one of the give major components (or “big ideas”) of One Region Forward.
The plan complied and analyzed data related to transportation patterns in our region and many of the results are startling, if not alarming. According to data from One Region Forward, we spend more time commuting than ever before. Compared to 1970, we drive twice as much, with more people driving alone.
