Moyla Halimy is our Economic Development & Government Affairs Coordinator and our latest staff spotlight! In her role, she performs a variety of tasks central to effectively executing ongoing work and special projects. She also manages the Partnership’s Business Vitals program (formerly EOP). Q: What is your background in/what type of work were you in before the Partnership?
A: I graduated from Canisius College in May of 2016. There, I studied Environmental Studies and International Relations. As a student, I worked for the International Student & Study Abroad Office. I also had the opportunity to intern in Senator Gillibrand’s Buffalo Office and at the World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara.
Q: How did your past experience prepare you for your current role at the Partnership?
A: Both my schooling and work experiences have helped me gain valuable critical thinking skills. Each day at the Partnership, I use the skills I’ve acquired to help make me a valuable team member.
Q: Tell us a little known fact about yourself:
A: I am from Turkmenistan. I have lived in the United States for the past nine years. My background has allowed me to travel frequently and it helped me learn a few different languages. I am fluent in: Farsi, Turkmen, Russian, Turkish and English.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: I love to take walks with my puppy, King and spend time with my friends and family.
Q: Best Buffalo Hidden Gem:
A: The incredible food!
Q: What is your favorite part about living in Buffalo?
A: It is truly a city of good neighbors. People are very friendly and warm and I see many exciting opportunities for young professionals like myself.
