Staff Spotlight: Anita Genovese

Anita GenoveseAnita Genovese, our Vice President/CFO is celebrating her 19th anniversary at The Partnership this month! She is responsible for managing the Partnership’s budget, Human Resources and Information Technology. Learn more about Anita here and read on for a brief Q&A!

Q: What is your background in/what type of work were you in before the Partnership?

A: I’m a Canisius College graduate with a degree in accounting and I have been with The Partnership for 19 years (TODAY!), so most of my experience is here.  Previously, I worked at Rosina Food Products and National Health Care Affiliates as a staff accountant.

Q: How did your past experience prepare you for your current role at the Partnership?

A: My past roles in accounting prepared me for my role as CFO by teaching me from the ground up.  I started with all basic tasks in accounts receivable and accounts payable to preparation of financial statements and budgets.  Even my experience in college working as a personnel manager at a local grocery store, B-Kwik (now Dash’s) prepared me for my role here.  At the Partnership, I wear many hats including IT and HR, my days are never boring!

Q: Tell us a little known fact about yourself:

A: I’m a DIY’er… I love to get my hands dirty and work on projects in and around my house and learn a new skill.  Anything from gardening or refinishing an old piece of furniture to hanging a new light fixture or cutting down a small tree!  No task is too small or too big (depending on the size of the tree), and that is how I feel about my daily work at the Partnership.

Q: What do you like to do for fun?

A: I spend a lot of time with my family when I’m not doing a project at home.  I love to cook and I’m part of a large Italian family, so that comes in handy.

Q: Best Buffalo Hidden Gem:

A: I’m not sure I would say one specific place, but all the beautiful architecture around town. And the people… I think Buffalo has some of the friendliest people around!

Q: What is your favorite part about living in Buffalo?

A: The home town feeling you get being around people that live here.  I love the change in seasons, even winter!  There is plenty to do in Buffalo any time of year, especially now with all the development downtown.  It’s an amazing place to live.
