Innovation in Print – Manufacturing Month Tour Series

Zenger Group Produces Solutions in Print, Mail and Marketing for Customers from Coast to Coast

Most of us don’t give the printed materials we encounter every day a second thought.

A tour of the Zenger Group facilities in Tonawanda changes that.

A million dollar-plus Heidelberg press was printing an incredible 11,000 four-color sheets an hour as Steve Zenger, president and CEO, and other members of his leadership team gave an inside look at the world of high-tech printing. And at the Zenger Group, it goes way beyond printing.

For more than 60 years, the family-owned and operated Zenger Group has produced print, direct mail and marketing solutions for customers across the country – one of its largest clients is headquartered in Los Angeles. With two other area plants in addition to the Tonawanda facility, the Zenger Group employs nearly 120 associates to run operations 24 hours a day, six days a week.

Zenger Group: Buffalo Niagara Partnership Manufacturing Tour
Steve Zenger explained the company’s “Smart Print Now” philosophy involving highly engineered, highly automated production systems and secure IT and database systems.  A wide range of equipment and machinery including traditional offset printing, digital printing, sophisticated die cutters and automated folders gives the company the ability to take a project from start to finish.

Graphic design. Printing. Data management. Mailing. Fulfillment. It is all under one roof with Zenger Group.

In fact, with Zenger Group introducing over 2 million pieces per month into the mail stream of the United States Postal Service, there are postal clerks on site to help deliver directly from the Zenger facility.

Zenger Group also supports the local community by leasing space to The Arc of Erie County where nearly 20 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are provided with jobs doing hand assembly and other tasks.

Steve Zenger noted the company has a continuing workforce need in just about every department. In production areas especially, the company looks for mechanically inclined individuals with a strong work ethic. Zenger said his company provides a great pathway in employment, with much training provided to promote career growth.

Zenger Group offers another example of why manufacturing is such an important sector in our local economy. The Buffalo Niagara Partnership extends our thanks to Steve Zenger and his team for participating in our Manufacturing Month Tour Series.
