Steve Finch is the Senior Vice President of Automotive Services at AAA Western and Central New York. Mr. Finch is responsible for the oversight of all automotive services of AAA, including dispatching of roadside assistance vehicles, two Club-owned emergency road service fleets, AAA Car Care Plus operations and the implementation of new roadside assistance processes, procedures, and information platforms.
Mr. Finch is well known in the Western New York area, having retired in December 2017 from his position as Plant Manager at General Motors Tonawanda Engine Plant. Mr. Finch had a distinguished 41‑year career at General Motors where he worked his way up from a co-op student in Buffalo through several executive leadership positions in Michigan before returning to his hometown to serve as Plant Manager in Tonawanda, where he worked from 2007 until his retirement.
During his time at the Tonawanda Engine Plant, he navigated the GM workforce through economic downturn and bankruptcy, and eventually led a multimillion dollar plant renovation, and launched three new engine programs totaling more than $900 million in investment.
Mr. Finch served on AAA’s Board of Directors from 20ll to 2017 and served as Chairman of the Automotive Committee for several years until transitioning into his new staff position at AAA. He currently serves as the board chair of the Buffalo Urban League, As well as several other Non-profit Boards, and Steve sits on the board of National Fuel Gas and Allied Motion Corporations.
Mr. Finch was born and raised in Buffalo and attended Hutchinson Central Technical High School. He went on to study at General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) and holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Married for 42 years, Steve and his wife Lillian, also from Buffalo, have 5 children and 11 grandchildren. His favorite outdoor activity is golf, but Steve spends most of his nonworking hours with his family and in service to his church.
