D&I Resources, Recommendations, & Inspiration
Other Media: 1) Work Life with Adam Grant – Podcast
2) I have seen presentations done by Mary-Frances Winters and she does a phenomenal job explaining and getting to the heart of a topic in a way that is eye opening and easy to connect with. I would highly recommend attending one of her presentations.
Advice for someone starting, or continuing on their D&I journey:
“Self- awareness, vulnerability, emotional intelligence, and the openness to have difficult conversations, are keys to starting and continuing growth in this area.”
I am an HR professional with over 15 years of experience. I currently oversee recruitment, training, and employee development for Erie County Medical Center. In this position I work to discover and develop top talent for ECMC. This includes filling all positions, while also helping our current employees grow, learn, and feel both fulfilled and challenged in their careers. “The YOUniversity”, ECMC’s first non-clinical training department established in 2018, has worked to establish employee development opportunities and a catalogue of over 20 home-grown soft skills, leadership, and diversity trainings. We collaborate extensively with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to roll out “The Diversity YOUniversity” trainings focusing on topics such as Unconscious Bias, Cultural Competency and Health Literacy, Microaggressions, Anti–Racism, and Anti-toxicity in the workplace.
Attend the 2021 D&I Symposium
Our 4th Annual Diversity & Inclusion Symposium will feature national experts on D&I sharing their knowledge on subjects such as implicit bias, building an inclusive culture, and the best practices for D&I initiative implementation.
KEYNOTE: Angela Glover Blackwell Founder in Residence at PolicyLink and nationally recognized leading voice in the movement for equity in America.
This half-day event will feature workshops and break-out sessions with actionable next steps for attendees to take away.
