Buffalo Niagara sits at the center of the one of the most powerful economic engines in North America- the Buffalo to Toronto mega-region. The economic opportunities associated with the geography of Buffalo Niagara were spotlighted again and again at a recent Can/Am Border Trade Alliance (BTA) conference held in Washington, DC. I was fortunate to attend and represent the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and our CanAm Council.
The Can/Am BTA conference brought together nearly 100 people from both sides of the border to discuss critical bi-national issues with a central focus on the economic impact of the trade relationship between the U.S. and Canada.
The U.S. and Canada are already the world’s largest trading partners, but we have yet to fully realize the economic impact of this strategic partnership. Better yet, Buffalo Niagara is uniquely positioned to benefit because of our proximity to the border.
That is exactly why the Partnership’s CanAm Council is currently planning a not-to-miss event. Unleashing the Power of the Mega-Region will be held on Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls.
Along with the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce and the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce from across the border, the Partnership will host the afternoon event catering to both Canadian and American business leaders looking to expand and take advantage of cross-border opportunities.
The event will feature a keynote address from Nadja Piatka who built her international food business from scratch and sees the border as a benefit, not a barricade.
