Partnership connecting students and summer internships through Say Yes Buffalo
On September 30th Rise of the Rest will be visiting Buffalo to learn about our entrepreneur ecosystem and host a business plan competition.
Over the last year and a half, we have been meeting with members, surveying our board and speaking with workforce development professionals about current workforce issues.
While there are many training, education and other issues employers and individuals are facing, the issue we hear the most about (across the board) is a lack of “soft skills”.
It was recently announced that Steve Case – co-founder of AOL and CEO of Revolution – will be visiting Buffalo on Sept. 30 as part of the ‘Rise of the Rest’ initiative.
This is exciting news for the community, as according to this Buffalo News article, Case is coming here to shine his spotlight on our entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Have you heard about the Communities that Work Partnership?
Through a nationally competitive review process, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership was chosen as one of seven organizations to participate in a new joint project of the Workforce Strategies Initiative (AspenWSI) of the Aspen Institute and the Economic Development Administration of the US Department of Commerce.
With summer right around the corner, many students are looking for summer internships.
Internships are vital to student’s career readiness, as they teach students about both the technical and soft skills needed to compete in the workforce.
