We are pleased to introduce BNP’s Senior Manager, Member Engagement – Nancy McNamara as our latest Staff Spotlight.

Nancy’s role is to engage our members in the services and resources offered by the BNP that offers them value and enable their businesses to thrive.

Learn a little bit more about Nancy in this brief Q&A.

Q: What is your background in/what type of work were you in before the BNP?

A: I worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry prior to coming to BNP.  I was employed by a few of the top global pharmaceutical companies representing many different products.   My work involved collaborating with physicians, pharmacists, hospitals, and psychiatric facilities in Western NY.  It involved sales, management, product training, SWOT analysis, and team leadership.

Q: How did your past experience prepare you for your current role at the BNP?

A: I am used to working with different organizations and learning more about what they need to be successful.  That skill is so important at the BNP as we work to provide our members with benefits that enhance their businesses.

Q: Tell us a little-known fact about yourself.

A: If you are seated by me at an event that serves chocolate you can have mine as I am allergic to chocolate.

Q: What do you like to do for fun?

A: I like to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor attractions we have in WNY.  Hiking, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding or boating are all fun activities I love.  I also enjoy travel, spending time with family and friends, and visiting my son in the big apple.

Q: Best Buffalo Hidden Gem.

A: Well actually it is 1 hour south of Buffalo – Ellicottville, NY.  This resort town has it all-great hiking, water sports, Summer Music Festivals, two beautiful ski resorts, a wonderful town with awesome dining, shopping, and some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.   It is a special place.

Q: What is your favorite part about living in Buffalo?

A: Hands down the people.  We have some of the nicest, kindest people in the country living right here.

Q: What are you doing differently post-pandemic that you didn’t do before?

A: I have continued my long evening walks and enjoy stopping to chat with the people I reconnected with during the pandemic.

Q: What do you like best about working from home Being able to give up my commute is fantastic.

A: I can take a break outside, work on the deck in the summer, have healthy lunches at home, and work through the day at my own pace.  I think my quality of life had improved by working from home.

Q: Since you are no longer commuting to work, how do you fill your drive time?

A: Jumping on the computer earlier since I don’t have to commute helps me to maximize my workday.  Once 5 o’clock hits I lace up my sneakers and am ready to go.
