Why Buy Local?

In 2011, our region spent $68.4 billion on imports. If businesses had shifted just 1% of their spending to locally sourced products and services, nearly $700 million could have been reinvested into our region's economy.

In October 2011, the Partnership surveyed members asking for feedback about the state of local sourcing in the Buffalo Niagara region. Over 100 participants responded, showing us the strong influence that Buy Local has on our region's employers. It was clear that buying local improves the strength of the local economy, the growth of local businesses, and community morale.

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership's Buy Local Initiative aims to encourage reinvestment in the economy and local sourcing withing the business community of the Buffalo Niagara region.
