Gallagher-Cohen Named CEO of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership
BUFFALO–The Buffalo Niagara Partnership board of directors has named Dottie Gallagher-Cohen its President and CEO, to replace Andrew Rudnick who is retiring after 20 years with the organization. She will assume the duties effective June 3.
The Partnership engaged national firm Korn/Ferry International, of Washington, D.C. to conduct the search. Gallagher-Cohen was selected from among the field of national and local prospects interested in the position. Tim Loftis, Chair of the board of the Partnership chaired the search committee.
“Our goal throughout the search process has been to hire the best available candidates, and after an exhaustive national search we found that candidate right here in Buffalo Niagara. We are thrilled to announce Dottie’s appointment to serve as the Partnership’s next CEO. She brings to the position unbridled enthusiasm, and a depth of knowledge and experience, that will serve our organization well,” said Loftis.
“This ship is going to be in very good hands,” expressed outgoing Partnership CEO, Andrew J. Rudnick. “Dottie’s talents, energy and relationships–not to mention her passion for this community–are just what the Partnership needs to continue its good work going forward.”
“We are at a pivotal time as a region to expand our economy. The Partnership has played a key role in working with the public and private sectors to expand our economy and remove barriers for growth in the region. It’s a privilege to lead this organization and to have the opportunity to build upon the great work that the Partnership has done over the past 20 years,” said Gallagher-Cohen.
Gallagher-Cohen is currently President and CEO of Visit Buffalo Niagara (VBN). She is credited for building awareness in the community about growing importance of tourism as economic development, modernizing the ‘CVB’ with improvements in technology, revamping digital marketing efforts, and for developing a brand platform for visitation that has grown visitor spending in each of the past three years.
Gallagher-Cohen has over 20 years of executive management experience including serving as the SVP of Marketing for The Buffalo News prior to joining VBN. She is a graduate of Towson University, and has an MBA from the University at Buffalo.
