Since 1948, Watkins Glen has been the home of American road racing. Now it has become the home of every major racing series in North America. Voted the #1 NASCAR Track by readers of USA Today, race fans flock to Watkins Glen International year after year to experience the thrill and excitement of motorsports.
The Glen’s season kicks off with Opening Weekend in April, where fans get the chance to drive their own vehicle around the historic 3.4 mile circuit. In June, the first race weekend takes place with Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, an annual event that highlights some of the best names in endurance racing. Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen will take place June 29-July 2, 2017.
Racing isn’t the only thing Watkins Glen International has to offer. In July, the annual Finger Lakes Wine Festival becomes the focus of the Finger Lakes Region, showcasing more than 90 local wineries as well as musicians and vendors. The 21st Annual Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese is July 14-16, 2017.
Perhaps the most exciting weekend of the season is NASCAR at The Glen. This action packed weekend includes the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series on Friday, and the NASCAR XFINITY Series Zippo 200 on Saturday. On Sunday, the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series race is sure to be a thrill, with cup drivers going head to head on the historic road course. NASCAR at The Glen takes place August 3-6, 2017.
September is yet another busy month for Watkins Glen International, hosting both the INDYCAR Grand Prix and the US Vintage Grand Prix. The INDYCAR Grand Prix is sure to be an exciting race, with cars reaching speeds as fast as 200mph. The INDYCAR Grand Prix is August 31 – Sept. 3. The US Vintage Grand Prix is one of the largest vintage racing events in the nation, featuring race cars from nearly every era, as Watkins Glen International celebrates its legendary history. The US Vintage Grand Prix is September 8-10, 2017.
