Kicking off Manufacturing Month

What’s the best way to celebrate Manufacturing Month in October? With a kickoff celebration featuring two industry experts.

We invite you to join us and our manufacturing members at 9 a.m. on October 6 at Shea’s Smith Theatre to weigh in on our expanded council’s agenda for the year and learn about key industry issues.

The event will feature keynote speaker Gardner Carrick, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at the Manufacturing Institute in Washington D.C., as well as Dr. Jay Walker, Assistant Professor of Economics at Niagara University.

Carrick plays an instrumental role at the Manufacturing Institute, as they work in conjunction with the National Association of Manufacturers to form the national voice of the industry.

MFG day 2015During his keynote presentation, Carrick will address the changing roles of new technologies, national industry trends and workforce issues.

Also presenting at the event will be Dr. Jay Walker. Dr. Walker compiles the monthly Purchasing Manager’s Index reports, which are leading-edge indices of the health of manufacturing here in Western New York.

Last month, our manufacturing members participated in a survey to voice their needs and priorities for our expanded council.

At the event, we’ll be presenting the survey results to form a discussion around the council’s top issues for the year.

This serves as a tremendous opportunity to make your voice heard about manufacturing initiatives and issues.

While the Kickoff event is focused on manufacturing, we encourage all Partnership members to register today to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to our advocacy plan and action agendas.

Stay tuned for more information and any updates to the event plan!
