Adams will be speaking at the conference’s opening session at the downtown Buffalo Convention Center at noon on Thursday, August 4, and will be addressing the recently-unveiled Regional Economic Development Councils outlined by Governor Andrew Cuomo in his “NY Works” program. “We’re very excited that the Governor’s office has chosen Accelerate Upstate to be one of the first statewide presentations on the Regional Economic Development Council concept,” said Andrew J. Rudnick, President & CEO of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership. “There has been tremendous buzz for some time about how the Councils will operate and it is good to see the outreach beginning. In his roles at the Business Council and then with Empire State Development, Ken Adams has been a good friend to Upstate, and we look forward to his presentation on the future of Upstate economic development.” Adams’ presentation will serve as a springboard for a two-day conversation among Upstate stakeholders that will ultimately yield an Accelerate Upstate action agenda to be delivered to Albany and Washington following the event. Throughout the conference’s presentations, panel sessions and Thursday evening reception, attendees will be invited to submit comments, observations and ideas through comment periods attached to each of the conference’s panel sessions, through written comments or via social media. ### ABOUT THE BUFFALO NIAGARA PARTNERSHIP The Buffalo Niagara Partnership includes nearly 2,500 employer members, working for improved business competitiveness and expanded economic activity in the region.
