Partnership Hosts Comptrollers Conversation
October 22, 2008

This afternoon, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s Government Affairs Committee hosted a discussion among New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Erie County Comptroller Mark C. Poloncarz and Buffalo Comptroller Andrew A. SanFilippo. The three Comptrollers addressed Partnership members’ questions related to the crisis in financial markets and the impact on the finances of the state, the county and the city in light of the current economic uncertainty.

Much of the dialogue focused on an increased and resolute need for fiscal accountability in government, particularly in planning for the future. All shared concerns that budget constraints at the state level would be passed on to local governments, and asserted that tough decisions would be necessary at all levels of government.

The Partnership’s Government Affairs Series is designed to provide “face-time” with elected officials and in-depth dialogue on topics of importance to the Buffalo Niagara business community. Sponsors of the series are: Northrup Grumman, Verizon Fios & Verizon Wireless, Waste Management and The Zenger Group.
