Thank You
Thank You
Last Thursday, 150 Partnership members attended our "Volunteer Appreciation Party," an event we hosted to say "thank you" to the local business people who donate their time and energy to making the region, and individual businesses, stronger. And because they represented only about one-tenth of the total number of folks who are actively engaged in our efforts, indulge me this broader note of "thanks."
Each year hundreds of Partnership members participate in our events, are active with our councils and take advantage of a number of programs and seminars. They spend their time sharing best practices with fellow members, exchanging business leads and speaking up about critical issues of public policy because, sure, there's something "in it for them." But the fact of their involvement also benefits everyone who is reading this email. For that, and on behalf of our entire staff, I express heartfelt appreciation. We simply would not be effective without all of you standing with us, committed to our mission.
And that is, after all, what we're all about. "Businesses United for Growth." Buffalo Niagara employers, working together, to bring private sector jobs and investment to this community we all love so much.
If you aren't already an active volunteer member, I hope you might consider joining one of our councils (or encouraging an employee or co-worker to do so). You'll find information here: www.thepartnership.org/Home/GetInvolved/Councils
Another REALLY easy way to support the local business community is via the "advocate!" button on our website - and today would be a great day to start. By Thursday morning, please visit www.thepartnership.org/advocate. Click on "Major employer needs your help" and follow the instructions. Within a few minutes, you'll have sent a message to the Erie County Legislature to fund the Buffalo Niagara Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), which is directly responsible for marketing a local industry that employs 15,000 local people, generates $650 million in direct visitor spending and more than $50 million in sales tax revenues. For every dollar the Legislature invests in the CVB, $20 out-of-town dollars are generated - through conventions alone. A worthy return-on-investment, and revenue Erie County desperately needs. Certainly worth a few minutes of your time, no?
Thanks again for your involvement, and for those of you who think you can do more, please make it your New Year's resolution!
I wish you all very happy holidays. Enjoy the season (and today's autumnal temperatures!).
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Rudnick
