Regional Agenda
Each year, the Partnership collects and compiles the region’s priority Federal and State funding and policy requests on behalf of the cities of Buffalo and Niagara Falls and the counties of Erie and Niagara and our partners in various regional development sectors, and then leads the advocacy effort for the items included.
Last year’s Regional Agenda resulted in much success. The agenda’s top priority, UB2020, came to fruition with the passage of SUNY2020.
Additional successes included the passage of Recharge NY, the Excelsior Jobs program and new Article X Siting bill. Locally, investment in infrastructure for the Spaulding Fibre site has progressed and reconstruction of the Lackawanna sewer pump station to support Buffalo Lakeside Commerce Park were highlighted in past Regional Agendas.
Wins in past years include…
• Projects on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
• The saving of the Niagara Falls Air Base.
• Buffalo’s new Federal Courthouse.
• Delay of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and the subsequent availability of Enhanced Drivers’ Licenses for New York State residents.
